Using a “Child First” approach means that professionals will always consider the needs of the child to be the main priority. We accomplish this by:
- Providing a child with a friendly place to talk that is neutral, safe and respects his or her privacy
- Reducing the number of interviews a child may have to endure
- Encouraging agencies to look at the case holistically and consider all aspects of an abuse investigation (legal, medical, emotional and social) by using an MDT approach
- Providing services by highly trained professionals in the areas of abuse and neglect
